IPL STARS: FROM BEING UNKNOWN TO KNOWN AROUND THE WHOLE WORLD
On 19th February, a new name came up in the Indian(uncapped) bowlers list, the auctioneer read it out as ‘Chetan Sakariya’.
This might seem like just another newbie cricketer trying to get into the Indian Premier League, but as soon as the bidding was allowed to start, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals went on a bid-war.
Rajasthan finally got the bid after agreeing to pay an amount of 1.2Cr.

On being asked if he was happy with it, he conveyed that he expected to get picked but not for such a high amount.
Sakariya is a strong lad, he had to go through several troubles to get to where he is at today.
He had a brilliant Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2021 becoming the sixth-highest wicket-taker of the tournament with an economy of just 4.9 runs per over.
Although while he was playing SMAT his brother committed suicide and he got to know this after the tournament was done and dusted.
Post SMAT, Chetan Sakariya was called for trials by Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals for his wonderful performances.
Sakariya made his IPL debut on 12th April 2021 against Punjab Kings.
He was right away handed the new ball and was even given the final over of the innings.
He had figures of 3-31 in the game which was a high-scoring encounter.
Punjab Kings had made 221 and Sakariya just gave away 5 runs and picked up two wickets in the final over.

He was wicketless in his second game against Delhi Capitals but picked up three wickets against Chennai Super Kings.
He is currently the 7th highest wicket-taker in the tournament.
Sakariya’s is a rag to riches story which speaks about how hard work is greater than everything.
We hope to see more of him in the future.
